Living a Life Reimagined!

My Story

On September 27, 2023—my 50th birthday—I made a bold decision and tendered my resignation after 23 years of service with the federal government. Having sold most of my belongings and given away the rest, I created a list of places I longed to explore. With my family and friends' well wishes, I embraced a new chapter: a life of slow travel and discovery. No rush, no deadlines—just the world and all its wonders, one adventure at a time.

So where have I been so far?

    Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact me at boppingaroundslowly@gmail.com if you can't find an answer to your question.

My to-go platform is Airbnb. I have strict search requirements so finding the 'perfect' accommodation is not hard. If I feel like I need to cast a wider net, I will search on Booking.com.

This process can be both random and deliberate at the same time. Each one of the seven countries that I have visited in the last six months had unique reasons for me being there. Everything from wanting to see a 'Wonder of the World' to attending a meetup with friends to wanting to stay in a particular Airbnb.

I decided to do the unthinkable. I quit my good job, sold off my assets, and gave the rest away.

With the exception of South Africa, they all have been my favorite for different reasons. If I had to pick one, it would be Sri Lanka.

Where to go next. It is not always as simple as buying a plane ticket and going.

I would have established my residence stateside, and officially changed my address with the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Hands down it is WhatsApp. You can text, phone, and video call for free using this app.

Sri Lanka, for sure. The food is full of flavor, spice, and usually organic and vegan.

Probably working through those moments when I wish someone else was around. It does not happen often but it does.

We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.
